Malone's Road to the White House 2012
For 12 years, Dr. Christopher Malone has taught courses on the presidential election. In 2000 and 2004, Malone used the class to conduct mock presidential conventions where hundreds of NYC high school students served as presidential delegates. Malone's students taught and mentored the high school students, and together they produced a 400+ page Presidential Delegate Almanac of Presidential Politics.
In the fall 2003, The Washington Post identified Malone as one of the nation's most "innovative" professors for his efforts.

From 2004-2010, Malone co-taught a distance learning course that was the product of an extraordinary collaboration between Pace University, CSPAN, the Cable Center at Denver University, and George Mason University. His co-professor for the class was CSPAN senior executive producer and political editor Steve Scully. The class allowed the students at each of the campuses to interview the foremost political leaders and opinion makers in American politics. Past include: Senator Tom Daschle, Senator John Kerry, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Bob Dole, Senator George Allen, Senator Mary Landrieu, Governor Howard Dean, Governor Mario Cuomo, Congrssman Charlie Rangel, Karl Rove, Walter Cronkite, Brian Williams, Bob Schieffer, Chris Wallace, Tony Snow, Chris Matthews, and many many more. The class was shown regularly on the CSPAN and CSPAN 3 networks and aired on CSPAN's XM Satellite radio station. Past classes are archived on the CSPAN Video Library website which can be acessed by clicking here.
In the fall 2011, Malone will be using this blog to organize his Road to the White House course. Students taking the course will become producers of knowledge about the 2012 presidential race by creating their own blogs that will be linked to this one (See "On the Campaign Trail with Students"). There you will find two key aspects of their posts. First, students will be blogging about the presidential election twice weekly. Second, each student will be using the vast resources of the CSPAN Video Library to find video clips that correspond to each week's lecture material (which can be accessed here under Malone's Lecture Notes). Students will post 3 clips per week on the topic at hand. Collectively, that means more than 90 clips from the CSPAN library each week on crucial topics like the electoral college, the primaries, campaign finance, the general election campaign strategy, and so on.
In addition, Malone will be posting each of his 14 Lectures on the site each week, which he has developed over more than a decade of teaching the course.
So check back every now and then to get up to date on the campaign...and enjoy!
